September Pulls! Lumberjanes! Dylan Dog! Irredeemable!

Here is what we are reading this month! You can choose to read any or all of these books to be a part of this podcast. Just head to your local library, book store, comic shop, Comixology, or find a friend with a copy that you can borrow, and start reading! Once you’ve finished reading, send us an email with your thoughts! Did you like the book? Why? What are your thoughts on the writing? The art? The characters? The premise? We’ll read one or two emails for each book on the Podcast; one of those emails could be yours! We will always lean toward the more thought-provoking emails that will allow us to carry on the conversation. These episodes will be released on October 1st, 10th and 20th.

Mike’s Pull: LUMBERJANES, VOL. 1: BEWARE THE KITTEN HOLY

By  Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, Brooke Allen and Shannon Watters.

Available in paperback (ISBN: 978-1608866878) from BOOM! Box. Also available on Comixology and Amazon Kindle, and as single issues Lumberjanes #1-4.

Friendship to the max! Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley are five best pals determined to have an awesome summer together…and they’re not gonna let any insane quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! Not only is it the second title launching in our new BOOM! Box imprint but LUMBERJANES is one of those punk rock, love-everything-about-it stories that appeals to fans of basically all excellent things. It’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gravity Falls and features five butt-kicking, rad teenage girls wailing on monsters and solving a mystery with the whole world at stake.

Kurtis’s Pull: THE DYLAN DOG CASE FILES (First two stories only)

By Tiziano Sclavi, et al.

Available in paperback (ISBN: 978-1595822062) from Dark Horse Comics. NOTE: We will only be reading the first two stories which are also available as single issues Dylan Dog #1-2.

Nightmares can’t hurt you. There’s no such thing as the walking dead. Monsters are all in your imagination. We tell ourselves these things to make us feel safe at night, to give us strength against the unknown. But there are things in the dark that can hurt us. Just ask Dylan Dog. An ex-cop who now battles against evil as a “nightmare investigator,” Dylan Dog is unlike any private eye you’ve ever met. If creatures from beyond the unknown are after you, and if you can hire him, he just might save your life.

Reader Pull: IRREDEEMABLE, VOL. 1

By Mark Waid and Peter Krause.

Reader Pull suggested by Craig Elliot.

Available in paperback (ISBN: 978-1934506905) from BOOM! Studios. Also available on Comixology and single issues Irredeemable #1-4.

Irredeemable dares to ask the question: what if the world’s greatest hero decided to become the world’s greatest villain? A ‘twilight of the superheroes’-style story that examines super-villains from the writer of Kingdom Come.
